Over the years I have heard innumerable women ask me what I use on my skin. ‘Shahnaz, I am going to come and pick up the jars on your table’, they say. The secret of beauty is best revealed at my beauty treasure place – my dressing table – with the six foot long mirror, a beige border and exposed lights – and an equally long table with a chair facing it. It houses my make up and magic potions.

My skin care routine is very thorough. In the morning, I apply a fine layer of ShaDew which creates a barrier between the heavily chlorinated bath water, followed by the highly refined exfoliating scrubs from my Gold or Diamond ranges. Almost all parts of the body have hair including the face. Hair on the face is particularly annoying to women. It may make them feel unfeminine, unattractive, cause stress and loss of confidence. BEAT THE HEAT

The soaring temperature has taken its toll. Sweltering heat has resulted in many deaths and heat strokes , that result in high fever and weakness. It is advised to increase the intake of water with the inclusion of fruits and green vegetables in the diet. Regular cleansing, toning, exfoliation, moisturizing and regular use of sunscreen before stepping into the sun is also recommended. Nature is a treasure trove of fruits, vegetables and herbs that are the key to healthy life.

SUNSCREEN – SAVING GRACE FOR YOUR SKIN

A sunscreen lotion when applied to the skin reflects or absorbs harmful UV rays of the sun thereby minimizing sun damage.

Apply the lotion at least 20 minutes before sun exposure. For ensuring constant protection it should be reapplied after any swimming, heavy perspiration or sun – exposure for long duration.
