And what better way to do all this while also making your loved ones happy! Rakhi is a beautiful occasion and a great time to gift your sisters something valuable, something thoughtful, and something meaningful! As the overwhelming number of options available can often lead many brothers to feel confused about what they should gift their sister, we’re here to help you out! In this article, we break down the best gift ideas for your sister on Rakhi Bandhan:

A Pendant

Pendants have always been a classic gift for anyone. Their charm, elegance and beauty has also often made them a popular gift for sisters on Rakhi Bandhan. Choose a pendant or a bracelet with a beautiful crystal lying in the middle. Make sure to keep your own sister’s preferences in mind (the ones that you’re aware of!) while choosing the style of the pendant. You can also pair the pendant up with a coordinated outfit, or buy jewelry set that incorporates a pendant and other pretty accessories to gift your pretty sister!

A Meaningful Book

Books are another classic gift that conveys meaningfulness and thoughtfulness in a beautiful way. Depending on your sister’s age and taste, choose a genre that you think she likes, and buy a book that says you’ve actually thought about your choice. Remember, it’s not as much about the gift itself as it is about how much consideration goes behind it. Package the book beautifully, and gift it to the pleasure of your sister!

Who doesn’t love chocolates? Be it some Hershey’s, some Kit Kats or some Dairy Milk – these sweet treats are a perfect commemoration of an equally sweet bond between you and your sister. As always, make sure the chocolates are packaged in an elegant way, and are pretty to look at as well as being delicious. You’re good to go!

Cash Money

If you can’t happen to think of the ideal gift for your sister, just go with some good ol’ cash money. Fact is, many people secretly prefer getting cash money as a gift as it allows them the liberty to buy whatever they want on their own. Cash money is a great gift to show your sister that you care about her and you want to give her a treat to shop all by herself! Just package the money nicely in an envelope, and hand it over to your sister when she’s least expecting a gift!

Shahnaz Husain’s Dressing Table

Over the years I have heard innumerable women ask me what I use on my skin. ‘Shahnaz, I am going to come and pick up the jars on your table’, they say. The secret of beauty is best revealed at my beauty treasure place – my dressing table – with the six foot long mirror, a beige border and exposed lights – and an equally long table with a chair facing it. It houses my make up and magic potions.

In the morning, I apply a fine layer of ShaDew which creates a barrier between the heavily chlorinated bath water, followed by the highly refined exfoliating scrubs from my Gold or Diamond ranges. Once in a while I use the classic granular ShaGrain with a splash of ShaRose. Continue reading “Shahnaz Husain’s Dressing Table”

Almost all parts of the body have hair including the face. Hair on the face is particularly annoying to women. It may make them feel unfeminine, unattractive, cause stress and loss of confidence. It is normal for the face to have fine downy hair. When this hair growth is coarse and thick, the problems start. This excessive hair growth may be due to hereditary factors, hormonal imbalances or as a reaction to certain medicines.

Here are a few herbal treatments that can be done at home to remove hair and slow down re growth. These are effective if done regularly, say every week and require patience and pre testing. Test the mask on the back of the hand for example to check there is no adverse reaction before proceeding. Continue reading “NATURAL REMEDIES OF HAIR REMOVAL – SHAHNAZ HUSAIN”

The soaring temperature has taken its toll. Sweltering heat has resulted in many deaths and heat strokes , that result in high fever and weakness. It is advised to increase the intake of water with the inclusion of fruits and green vegetables in the diet. Regular cleansing, toning, exfoliation, moisturizing and regular use of sunscreen before stepping into the sun is also recommended. A sunscreen lotion when applied to the skin reflects or absorbs harmful UV rays of the sun thereby minimizing sun damage.

Apply the lotion at least 20 minutes before sun exposure. For ensuring constant protection it should be reapplied after any swimming, heavy perspiration or sun – exposure for long duration.

Always apply sunscreen while holidaying by the sea or snow, as these are reflective surfaces and sun-damage is more. Continue reading “SUNSCREEN – SAVING GRACE FOR YOUR SKIN”
